Georgia Democrat Flees Party To Become Republican

(Liberty Bell) – There’s been a startling trend that is no doubt causing members of the Democratic Party all over the country to lose their minds and that’s seeing their supposed brothers-in-arms — did I just assume their gender? Gasp! — suddenly tucking tail and defecting to join the GOP, their archenemies. We’ve actually witnessed quite a bit of this activity happening, and honestly, the left has only themselves to blame. They have moved so radically far toward progressivism that it’s even too much for the vast majority of folks who were previously on board with their vision for the future of the United States.

The latest example of this comes from a Georgia Democrat who ticked off colleagues in the state House of Representatives after she threw support behind a school choice bill and made the announcement she would be defecting to the Republican Party, according to a new report from Fox News.

Mesha Mainor, representing the 56th district in the Georgia House since 2021, made the announcement just before noon on Tuesday. If you listen closely, you can hear Democrats screaming in agony as yet another progressive takes the red pill and awakens from The Matrix.

“When I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me,” Mainor went on to say as she explained her decision in a statement delivered to Fox News Digital. “They crucified me. When I decided to stand up in support of safe communities and refused to support efforts to defund the police, they didn’t back me. They abandoned me.”

“For far too long, the Democrat Party has gotten away with using and abusing the black community,” she continued. “For decades, the Democrat Party has received the support of more than 90% of the black community. And what do we have to show for it? I represent a solidly blue district in the city of Atlanta. This isn’t a political decision for me. It’s a moral one.”

However, one point Mainor made explicitly clear was that she intends to keep pursuing her work across party lines even after becoming a member of the GOP, stating she’s “never hesitated to work across the aisle to deliver results for my community and the people I was elected to represent. And that won’t change.”

Mainor says she has “been met with much encouragement” after the announcement and pointed out that it has been “humbling to be embraced – for the first time in a long time – by individuals who don’t find fault in a black woman having a mind of her own and be willing to buck the party line.”

When Mainor was asked if she expected some pushback from Democrats for the decision, she replied, “The most dangerous thing to the Democrat Party is a black person with a mind of their own. So, it wouldn’t surprise me.” That is the absolute truth. Democrats do not really care about minorities. Black Americans are nothing more than political pawns they can use, manipulate, and abuse for their agenda, which involves gaining more power, wealth, and influence over the whole country. We need more people like Mainor who see that, recognize it for what it is, and refuse to play the game.

So what is Mainor’s plan after making the switch? She says her priorities will be to focus on the issue of education and to expand the GOP majority in the Houses. Sounds like good goals to me, how about you?

“Education and the importance of school choice has been – and will continue to be – a key focus of mine,” the state congresswoman said. “But outside of education, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Georgia General Assembly to tackle the most pressing issues facing our state and to help grow the Republican Party, helping us focus not just on preaching to the choir but growing the congregation.”

In a video published on social media back in May, Mainor threw accusations at Democrats of turning on her for being a diehard supporter of school choice.

“I support school choice, parent rights and opportunities for children to thrive, especially those that are marginalized and tend to fail in school,” Mainor explained at the time. “The Democrats at the [Georgia State] Capitol took a hard position and demanded every Democrat vote against children and for the teachers union. I voted yes for parents and yes for children, not failing schools.”

Of course the left hated her for this. Schools are indoctrination centers the progressives have been using to create whole generations of brain dead statists to pledge their loyalty and do whatever it takes to ensure a socialist vision for the U.S. By supporting school choice, Mainor is attacking the system they have spent decades building. Liberals will not allow that to slide.

“Mainor justified her position by noting that some schools in her district have 3% reading proficiency rates and that many kids cannot do simple math,” Fox News reported.

“I have a few colleagues upset with me to the point where they are giving away $1,000 checks to anyone that will run against me,” Mainor added. “I’m not apologizing because my colleagues don’t like how I vote.”

The congresswoman stated that parents were angry that some politicians “put the teachers union and donors ahead of their constituents.” Her talk then got personal when she noted many of her colleagues were mad at her for standing on principles. Because, as we all know, they are collectivists and it is anathema to go against the agenda.

“It’s ironic. I’ll say every election year, I hear ‘Black Lives Matter.’ But do they? I see every other minority being prioritized except Black children living in poverty that can’t read,” Mainor remarked. “We’ll send $1,000,000 to the border for immigrant services. But Black communities, not even a shout-out. I’m sorry, I don’t agree with this,” she added. “I’m not backing down and I’m actually just getting started.”

Let’s hope other Democrats, at both the state and federal levels, follow Mainor’s example.
