Judge Overseeing Trump’s Criminal Case Gave Serious Campaign Donations To Obama

(Liberty Bell) – The federal judge who has been assigned to the criminal case against former President Donald Trump, Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, is hardly an unbiased objective upholder of the law. As it turns out, she is a hardcore leftist who was appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama and has a history of dropping the proverbial hammer down on Jan. 6 defendants, fighting against the Trump administration, and being cozy with donors who have given a lot of money to Joe Biden. This should be a fairly big concern for Trump and his legal team for obvious reasons.

According to TheBlaze, “Trump was indicted Tuesday on four criminal charges related to his alleged attempt to undo the 2020 election. He stands accused of conspiracy to defraud the U.S.; conspiracy to impede an official proceeding (i.e., the Jan. 6, 2021, certification of the electoral vote); obstructing and impeding the certification of the electoral vote; and conspiracy ‘to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate one or more persons in the free exercise and enjoyment of’ the right to vote and have one’s vote counted.”

The indictment itself goes on to say that from November 2020 all the way through January 2021, former President Trump “did knowingly combine, conspire, confederate, and agree with co-conspirators, known and unknown to the Grand Jury, to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate one or more persons in the free exercise and enjoyment of a right and privilege secured to them by the Constitution and laws of the United States—that is, the right to vote, and to have one’s vote counted.”

If he is convicted on these charges, Trump could be looking at a possible prison stint of 55 years. What’s worse is that this is the third indictment the former president has been slapped with, the first having come back in March of this year at the hands of New York County’s radical leftist Attorney General Alvin Bragg. The second indictment was in June and deals with allegations of mishandling classified documents.

Which, by the way, President Biden has also done, yet there has been no indictment for him, thus illustrating once again how we are living in a nation with a two-tiered system of justice. There’s one set of standards for Republicans and a completely different one for Democrats. Those on the left, like the president’s son, Hunter Biden, seem to be able to get away with committing crimes without so much as a slap on the wrist. A normal person would be tossed in prison.

Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign released a statement concerning the latest indictment, saying, “This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner, and leading by substantial margins.”

The campaign then referred to the indictment as “election interference.”

Special Counsel Jack Smith issued a reply to the statement, going on to say, “The attack on our nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, was an unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy. … Since the attack on our Capitol, the Department of Justice has remained committed to ensuring accountability for those criminally responsible for what happened that day. This case is brought consistent with that commitment.”

Judge Chutkan has been assigned to the case and the former president is expected to be arraigned on Aug. 3.

“Chutkan, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, joined the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 2014 after her nomination by former President Barack Obama. Her husband, retired Judge Peter Kratuhamer, was also an Obama appointee. After working with the D.C. Public Defender Service for over a decade, Chutkan worked as a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner from 2002 until her confirmation as a federal judge. The Daily Mail highlighted how this particular law firm has ‘strong connections to the Democratic Party’ and is where Hunter Biden served for several years as counsel during Obama’s tenure in office,” TheBlaze reported.

OpenSecrets.org records show Chutkan donated over $3,000 to Barack Obama from 2008 to 2012.

The three founders of the firm have donated a stunning $174,000 to the presidential campaign of Joe Biden and to the Biden Victory Fund, as per a new piece from the Washington Free Beacon. Guess who one of Chutkan’s old firm’s clients happened to be? Burisma Holdings. This was all thanks to Hunter Biden. And yet, we’re supposed to believe this judge will be impartial?

The Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to a fair trial. How is Trump going to get a fair trial if the judge presiding over the case is a fan of his biggest political nemesis?

“TheBlaze previously reported that in 2018, the Obama-appointed judge also granted the entire illegal alien population, including young teens, class action certification to demand unfettered access to abortions,” the article continued.

The year before that, the judge ordered the government to “promptly and without delay” help transport an illegal alien, who was just 17-years-old, to an abortion facility in Texas, so that she could end the life of her 16-week-old preborn baby after Trump’s administration tried to keep her from leaving a detention facility.

“NBC News indicated that Chutkan has already ruled against Trump twice when he attempted to assert executive privilege in response to subpoenas issued by the Jan. 6 committee over documents related to the events surround the Jan. 6 protests,” the report added. “The Washington Post noted that Chutkan has been the most ruthless sentencing judge on the D.C. federal court for Jan. 6 protesters, having sentenced every one of the 31 defendants who came before her to jail or prison time,” Joseph Mackinnon of TheBlaze wrote.

It wasn’t enough for Chutkan to toss critics of the 2020 presidential election behind bars. She also went way beyond the recommended sentences on nine different occasions while accepting harsh and heavy recommendations that were sent out 14 other times.

“For instance, in October 2021, prosecutors recommended three months of home confinement and probation for Matt Mazzocco of Texas, who had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for joining others in entering the Capitol building on Jan. 6,” Mackinnon commented. “ABC News reported that Chutkan instead sentenced Mazzocco to 45 days in jail plus 60 hours of community service, noting that ‘there have to be consequences.'”

Chutkan has not kept her deep seated hatred for those involved in the Jan. 6 incident a secret. Nor has she hidden her contempt for Trump.

“It has to be made clear that trying to violently overthrow the government, trying to stop the peaceful transition of power, and assaulting law enforcement officers in that effort is going to be met with absolutely certain punishment,” Chutkan asserted, underlining the fact she’s trying to make an example out of the protesters.

Mackinnon then penned, “During one Jan. 6 defendant’s sentencing, Chutkan appeared to pre-emptively insinuate Trump’s culpability, saying the protester ‘did not go to the United States Capitol out of any love for our country. … He went for one man.'”

During a sentencing hearing that was held on Oct. 4, 2021, the judge remarked, “The country is watching to see what the consequences are for something that has not ever happened in the country before,” adding that the Jan. 6 protesters, who did a fraction of the damage the BLM rioters had the previous year, ‘soiled and defaced the halls of the Capitol and showed their contempt for the rule of law,'” a report from CNN revealed.

And if you dared to try and compare Black Lives Matter rioters the previous year to those who went wild at the Capitol building, Chutkan said your argument is a “a false equivalency and downplays the very real danger that the crowd on January 6 posed to our democracy.”

Again, there’s no way our former president will receive a fair trial with Chutkan presiding over the case.
