NBA Legend Sues Gov’t Officials Over COVID Persecution

(Liberty Bell) – Former Utah Jazz point guard and NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton, currently the host of a popular podcast, is now heading up a federal lawsuit filed against the state of Washington’s attorney general’s office, along with the state’s medical commission regarding rules that were adopted during the coronavirus pandemic that slapped proverbial duct tape over the mouths of doctors who challenged the “mainstream media narrative.”

According to The Western Journal, Stockton, a native of Spokane, Washington and a hero for the student body at Gonzaga University, is proving to be just as aggressive in a court of law as he was on the basketball court during his illustrious career.

Stockton recently did an interview on ‘Fox First,’ along with attorney Rick Jaffe, who stated that the rules employed in the state of Washington, adopted back in 2021, were an attack on the freedoms that Americans hold dear and an assault on freedom of speech.

“I think it’s pretty simple. It’s freedom,” Stockton asserted during the interview. “Even though we talk about medical freedom and things, it’s freedom and freedom to speak. It’s our First Amendment.”

“In September 2021, at a time when sanity was returning to some — Republican-led — parts of the country, the Washington State Medical Commission issued a news release announcing it had voted unanimously to adopt a statement on what it called ‘COVID-19 Misinformation,'” the report said. “The statement followed a July 2021 announcement from the Federation of State Medical Boards — a national umbrella group — that declared ‘Physicians who generate and spread COVID-19 vaccine misinformation or disinformation are risking disciplinary action by state medical boards, including the suspension or revocation of their medical license.'”

As it is with most cases, what is considered to be “disinformation” or “misinformation” when it comes to the topic of the coronavirus is essentially an opinion rather than a fact, as is evidenced by all the ways it’s changed over the years. At one point during the fiasco, the “lab leak theory” used to explain the origin of the illness, which states it came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China, was considered to be “misinformation.” Then, in 2023, the FBI came out and remarked that this theory is probably the most likely explanation for the disease’s origin.

“Even Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, has acknowledged that social distancing guidelines about individuals staying six feet apart was essentially made up. Yet anyone who questioned the establishment position, whether on the origins of the disease, treatments or the efficacy of vaccines in preventing transmission of the disease (they don’t, as a study in the journal The Lancet noted) no matter what MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow might claim,” the article went on to say.

However, when the pandemic was at its height, if you dared to say something publicly or even semi-publicly, that went against the status quo, the narrative pushed by the propaganda makers in the mainstream media, you were immediately persecuted on social media and faced potential consequences such as a loss of your professional license.

“Stockton has a history of outspoken dissent when it comes to COVID. In 2022, the man who is the most storied name in the storied history of Gonzaga University basketball (besides the NBA Hall of Fame, he’s also a member of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame) had his season tickets to Gonzaga basketball games suspended over his opposition to mask mandates,” the WJ noted.

“This isn’t the first time Stockton has taken a defiant stance on COVID-19 restrictions,” the Spokane Spokesman-Review divulged on March 11. “The Gonzaga University alum was once suspended from attending basketball games at his alma mater after he refused to wear a face mask.”

Stockton has been taking public stands concerning various issues on his ‘Voices for Medical Freedom’ podcast.

“Now, he’s taking the battle to court, in a federal lawsuit that could open plenty of eyes about the treatment the medical and political establishment have meted out since the COVID pandemic to any who offer dissenting views,” the WJ explained.

“I’ve received calls from people and doctors that I haven’t spoken to in quite a while, and they’re just so grateful,” the NBA legend commented. “They’re grateful that somebody is stepping up that has a voice.”

Let’s hope Stockton has success in his lawsuit and helps to open the eyes of the American public to the importance of preserving medical freedom and our First Amendment.
