Matt Gaetz Outlines New Game-Changing Plan To Give Trump Immunity

(Liberty Bell) – Republicans, conservatives, and many other common sense Americans have had their eyes opened to the reality we currently live in here in the United States. It’s one where elite progressives within the Democratic Party have managed to infiltrate key positions in the federal government and weaponize federal law enforcement against anyone who dares to oppose their mission to transform America into a socialist society by following the blueprint left behind by Karl Marx.

The strongest example we have of this strategy in action is the near constant assault against former President Donald Trump, who is currently in the middle of another bid for the White House. Leftists have brought a number of federal charges against Trump in an effort to get him convicted of a felony and destroy his chances of taking on President Joe Biden in next year’s general election.

However, according to Warner Todd Houston of The Western Journal, one Republican lawmaker may have come up with a game-winning strategy to help Trump end the current legal blitzkrieg being launched against him.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican, has put out a new plan to grant the former president immunity while also exposing the corruption and abuse at the same time. How can this be accomplished? Gaetz wants to call Special Counsel Jack Smith to testify before Congress as a whistleblower.

“I’m worried that too many of my Republican colleagues in Congress are infected with the same loser mentality that infected Congress in the early days of the Mueller investigation,” Gaetz wrote on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). “This isn’t complicated. If House Republicans take action, Jack Smith could be the first prosecutor to bring a case while under criminal contempt himself. [Attorney General] Merrick Garland could be subject to impeachment if he refuses to enforce that criminal contempt.”

“Speaker [Kevin] McCarthy could set up a Select Committee tomorrow, bring President Trump in for testimony, and grant him immunity,” Gaetz noted in conclusion.

The congressman further elaborated on his plan during an interview on “The Charlie Kirk Show.”

“Here’s what we ought to do, and we shouldn’t make it that complicated,” Gaetz said during his conversation with Kirk. “First, we should tell Jack Smith that he has to show up and give a transcribed interview to the House Judiciary Committee in the next 15 days.”

“If he doesn’t do that, we should issue a subpoena. If he ignores the subpoena, we should hold him in criminal contempt of Congress. … And if Merrick Garland won’t enforce that criminal contempt, then he subjects himself to an impeachment,” the Florida Republican remarked.

“Simultaneous to that, you can actually bring Trump in to give testimony to the Congress and in doing so immunize him,” Gaetz continued during the interview. “You have to think about it almost like whistleblower protections — Trump, the ultimate whistleblower, potentially the beneficiary of congressional immunity.”

The congressman’s plan is grounded in federal law, the House actually possesses the power to do what Gaetz is suggesting because of 18 U.S. Code § 6002 and 6005. He went on to state that his plan is “never something you typically think of as a first step, but in this case, I think we misunderstand the fight that we are in. Right now you have the Department of Justice functioning as the enforcement wing of the Democratic Party.”

“I think that if Congress just accepts this premise that it’s an ongoing matter and thus we shouldn’t be involved, then you underscore the legitimacy of that very matter,” Gaetz stated sternly. He then acknowledged that he himself is in “the minority of the majority” concerning this situation.

“Most Republicans in Congress just think we ought to throw our hands in the air and allow the chips to fall where they may. I think that is a tremendous disservice to the Constitution when we are facing an election interference operation, not a legitimate prosecution,” the Florida congressman commented during his interview with Charlie Kirk.

Kirk seemed very interested in the proposal.

“Congressman [Matt Gaetz] has a BOLD plan he believes could immunize Donald Trump from Jack Smith’s politically weaponized crusade: Bring Trump in to testify before the House as a whistleblower, thereby triggering certain preexisting immunity protections.” he posted on X.

“Will it work? No idea,” Kirk admitted. “But we must reject the premise that the DOJ’s political persecution of Donald Trump is somehow legitimate. All options should be on the table.”

We don’t really know for sure if Gaetz’s plan will be effective or the kind of impact it could have on the investigations into and indictments of former President Donald Trump. However, some sort of action has to be taken in order to fight back against the weaponization of federal law enforcement. All legal tactics at our disposal should be utilized.
