J6 Committee Member Raskin: Destroy Current Method To Elect Presidents

(Liberty Bell) – The radical progressives in this country are determined to employ a multi-pronged strategy to not only obtain total and complete control over the most important institutions in our society, but to ensure they do not ever lose that power and essentially assure themselves victory in the vast majority of elections coming up from now until the end of time. How do they accomplish such a lofty goal? Through dismantling the Electoral College and enslaving the United States to a popular vote, ensuring the voices of conservatives, especially those living in flyover states, have no impact on the course America takes in the future.

U.S. Congressman Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat and member of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s left-wing select committee investigating the January 6th riot at the Capitol in 2021, made an appearance on the CBS News program “Face the Nation” over the weekend, where he heaped praise on the so-called “democratic spirit” in the country, while also referring to the Electoral College as a “danger” to democracy, according to Tom Tillison of BizPacReview.

The segment kicked off with host Margaret Brennan essentially celebrating the very one-sided panel’s “incredible body of work,” before giving Raskin an opportunity to explain to viewers what Americans “need to know.”

“It’s a story of some real villainy and some real danger to democracy, but also of real heroism and commitment to American democratic freedom,” he said in response. “And with democracy under attack all over the world, like with Putin invading Ukraine and the Ukrainian people standing up for their democratic freedom, and tyrants and autocrats on the march everywhere, it’s good to know that we have a strong, resurgent democratic spirit in America.”

Completely sold on left-wing talking points, Brennan then made the claim that “The institutions held.”

When Raskin was asked what is next, he noted that the institutions “did hold just barely,” before he added, “The truth is that we need to continually be renovating and improving our institutions.”

“I think that the Electoral College now, which has given us five popular vote losers as president in our history, twice in this century alone, has become a danger, not just to democracy, but to the American people,” the left-leaning congressman went on to explain to the audience.

“Much like our wide open border, if a Democrat is calling for the end of the Electoral College you can bet the farm they expect the outcome to benefit their party — in this case, it would allow states with densely populated urban areas controlled almost exclusively by the Democratic Party to dictate the outcome of presidential elections and effectively render more rural states inconsequential,” Tillison wrote.

“It was a danger on January 6. There are so many curving byways and nooks and crannies in the Electoral College, that there are opportunities for a lot of strategic mischief,” Raskin continued. “We should elect the president the way we elect governors, senators, mayors, representatives, everybody else: Whoever gets the most votes wins.”

Raskin then went on to cite our third president, Thomas Jefferson, who also penned the Declaration of Independence, in making his case to undermine the law of the land, the U.S. Constitution, going on to remark that Jefferson, deplored the sanctimonious reverence with which some people look at the original handiwork of the framers when they should be looking to their own experience. And we know that the Electoral College doesn’t fit anymore.”

Brennan did not offer up any sort of counter or rebuke to Raskin’s referring to the Electoral College, which has helped ensure that every single American citizen has had a vote and a say in determining the direction of our nation for well over 200 years, as a “threat.” The whole point of the Electoral College is to protect the government and the people from the tyranny of mob rule.

“Trent England, the founder of Save our States, an organization dedicated to defending the Electoral College, responded to a CNN tweet boosting Raskin’s maneuvering to say his claims are ‘historically ignorant,'” BizPacReview reported.

“This is historically ignorant. In 1824, JQA would almost certainly have had the most popular votes if every state had a popular vote. In 1876, nobody knows who really got the most votes (see also 1960),” England posted in a tweet.
